Good Morning

Somewhat surprisingly, Exeter have been given the go ahead for racing this afternoon.

It is fair to assume that the going will be very heavy.

Exeter 3.40. Devon National Handicap Chase

Mr.Vango  2 points each way at 11/2

This marathon over 3m 6f will take some getting this afternoon, and expect to see the field  strung out in the last half mile or so.

I am expecting to see Mr.Vango attempt to make every yard of the running.

This eight year old has only had five races under rules, but he did have one point to point race which he won by 25 lengths (beating 132 rated  Santos Blue)

He beat Inis Orr (now rated 133) in a maiden hurdle over 3 miles at Haydock on soft ground.

His most recent race was at Wincanton on Boxing Day when he finished 7 lengths behind the winner, Stellar Magic having made most of the running.

Over 3m 1f on good to soft ground and was his first race for 269 days

Mr Vango did not see a racecourse until he was 6 years old so has no mileage on the clock. Ben Jones takes the ride this afternoon and he is at the top of his game with six winners in the last two weeks.

Jump off in front, get into a nice rhythm, steady pace and come home in splendid isolation. That would be very nice indeed.

I have a bet in mind for tomorrow.

Best Regards

Roger
